Where'd Spring Go?
I'm starting to believe in that global warming crap. Of course, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are all warming as well, so maybe it's not our fault.
Anyway, the last couple of weekends have been very busy. Memorial Day weekend was great, and I guess it was probably the first time that I've ever really spent so much of it remembering the veterans that have given their lives for this country.
It started with me joining Jay to visit the vampires (often referred to as The American Red Cross) early Saturday morning. Then Terri and Jason and Jay and I hustled around a bit and got together again to help our (then) A.L. District Vice Commander put fresh flags on the graves of veterans at Woodbine Baptist Church. The 4 Wahls then invaded Jay and Gail's home for dinner.
Sunday morning the kids were singing at church, and Terri got up at 0'dark thirty to help with serving breakfast to Rolling Thunder riders. Sam got to ride in to the Post with Jay on his classic 1976 Goldwing. Later we met up with some other Legionnaires so we could go back to the church to provide a color guard for their ceremony. It's the first time Terri and I have been in a color guard together. There's some pictures here, and Jason got video, which I haven't edited yet.
Monday Terri got to run the video, while I was again in the color guard for our ceremony at Post 10.
All in all, a busy weekend.
Then this past weekend, Terri and Sam and I, along with my riding partner Chris went up to Salisbury, MD for the Asthma ride. Sam made it 52 miles on her bike before lack of preparation caught up to her, but the rest of us managed to suffer through the full 100 miles. Together we raised over $2300 to help kids with asthma. Jason was supposed to go to the Nascar race, but unfortunately it got rained out.
The kids are finishing up at school with exams and SOLs and all that good stuff. I'm sure the next couple of weeks will be as full as the last.
