Another new look for 4Wahls.net

Nothing major, the content hasn't changed. I just moved the blog away from being the index page in the name of faster loading. Adding the graphic update image, as well as the subscription service and RSS feed allowed me to do this and be confident that everyone that was interested in updates would get them without too much trouble.

With that, I need to hit the sack pretty soon. Tomorrow I head up to Westminster to keep the rescue pups company for a few days while Mike and Annie are out of town.

Lots of pictures loaded today, and RSS!

I posted a ton of pictures from December today. There's pictures from the Manassas Christmas Parade, which Jason and I both marched in, as well as a bunch of pictures from our trip to Colonial Williamsburg. They are all on the main site under the News-Pictures menu.

I've also added an RSS feed, available here. If you aren't familiar with RSS, it stand for "Really Simple Syndication" and is a way to be notified of updates to web sites, like this one. You can use the latest version on Internet Explorer or you can use a stand-alone viewer like BottomFeeder. They allow you to check for updates on a bunch of RSS enabled sites, like news or blog sites, without having to visit the site to see if there's an update. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me!

First post of the New Year!

Happy 2007 Everyone!

This is going to be a significant year in the Wahl Family. In March, Terri will retire from the Air Force with 20 years of service. Soon after, we're taking the kids to Hawaii for a week, a once in a lifetime experience for many people. Then Terri will be making the transition to either civilian or government employment, making a big change in all of our lives. In July we'll celebrate our 17th year of marriage. In August, Sam will officially become a teenager as she turns 13, then will start her last year in middle school. Jason intends to work his first job over the summer, then in October, he will turn 16. In December I turn 40.

I'm not talking about Terri's birthday, cause everyone knows you never ask a woman her age!

Other than that, this post is just intended to drop that silly picture of me and Mark from the top. It's been replaced by another shot I got in Williamsburg. This is a farmer, and the picture was taken in the back of the little farm/market place across from Bruton Parish Church. I still have to go through all the pictures I took and post the good ones.

Christmas Eve we went out to my sister's and spent some time with her family before returning home to get the kids changed for the 11:00 service. Mom and Richard met us there, as well as my nephew Andrew, and the service was nice. Being that late, it also meant that the kids slept in some Christmas morning. Terri and I were ahead of the wrapping game for a change, so we actually got to bed at a decent time.

Christmas day was fairly quiet and spent at home. Dad and Helen stopped by and visited for a while, and ate some goodies. Later Mom and Richard came by and did the same. I made chowder and baked a ham, so as usual, there was food available all day.

A couple days later I had a cyst removed from my scalp, then we went up to Mike and Annie's house. They had an "open house" on Friday, and we all got involved in helping prepare food and the house for that. I was amused to see all these people packed in the kitchen of this great big house, and surprised by how little of the food was actually eaten. It was fun, and followed by a couple of days of watching mostly college bowl games, which I actually enjoyed.

We came home on Monday, the kids went back to school on Tuesday, and Terri and I watch Gerald Ford's honors on Tuesday, and went for a cold-wind-shortened bike ride.

And so life returns to normal, mostly.
